“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” — Carl Jung
Meg O’Brien is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, and a member of the Australian Psychological Society. She holds a Master of Psychology (Clinical) and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology.
Meg brings broad experience working with individuals and families across all stages of life, with particular focus on supporting young people and older adults. She approaches her work with genuine respect, compassion, curiosity, and authenticity—values she sees as essential in helping clients create meaningful change and reach their personal goals.
She is trained in evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches for a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, perinatal and postpartum difficulties, work and school-related stress, parent–child attachment issues, chronic illness, autism, ADHD, and relationship challenges.
Meg is passionate about fostering hope and helping individuals build confidence in themselves. She works collaboratively with each client to navigate life’s challenges and develop strategies that align with their values, strengths, and unique circumstances.
Her clinical work is grounded in an integrative and neuroaffirming approach, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and attachment-based frameworks. Meg understands that therapy is not one-size-fits-all and values collaboration and flexibility in tailoring treatment to fit each individual’s needs.
She has worked in both public and private settings, including schools, child protection, suicide prevention services, and private practice.
